You may be thinking "Bitter Melon? What's that? And why does it have to be bitter..."
Bitter melon is a tropical fruit found in Asian and Caribbean cuisines.
It's bitter because of four chemicals found inside of it being, Momordicines, Charantin, Momordicosides, and Vicine.
And I'm here to tell you that this superfood will be your best friend in attaining
glowing skin!

Why?
Bitter melon is amazing for your skin because, it contains IMMENSE amounts of Vit. A, Vit C., and antioxidants, which therefore,
Fights Acne and Infections
Naturally exfoliates skin
Prevents oxidative stress
Reduces Fine Lines
Protects Skin from Sun damage
(still wear sunscreen)
and, Evens Skin Tone!
but obviously there are it's cons...
Sounds Great!
I know! However, there is a huge, huge downside being,
Hypoglycemia.
When you consume bitter melon in any way, it causes glucose shuttling.
This comes from, Polypeptide-P, Charantin, Vicine (darn you Vicine..), Activating AMPK, and blocking sugar absorption in the gut.
And, no, do not try to consume this with pre-workout, or in a fast.
When severe hyperglycemia gets too severe, you can pass out and end up in a coma. You don't want that, do you?
This is NOT a replacement for regular insulin dosages.

How can we work around this?
It's all about timings. What I do is take a 30g raw shot in the morning with my breakfast ONLY if I'm eating a carb breakfast, then I take a 50g raw shot with my post-workout meal. I've found my timings to work with no hyperglycemia post shot in about 4 weeks, but you should experiment to see how it would work out for you.
What type of consumption method should I use?
You should honestly be only considering two methods of consumption, taking a raw shot, or using powder.
I recommend using a raw shot to reap the most benefits with skin health, and the powder if you want a cheap, convenient, and muscle filling, alternative. Everything else is trashy and a scam.
To take a raw shot you firstly need to weigh out whatever amount of raw Indian bitter melon, then cut the melon lengthwise, and use a spoon to scrape out all of the white spongey inner pith and the hard seeds. Throw out the seeds, then put the green outer flesh through a juicer. If you don't have a juicer, put it in a blender then pour it through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
To consume the bitter melon through powder (you should only be consuming this once a day), get one tea spoon of organic Indian Karela powder and put it into four ounces of water. Stir it rapidly and chug it cause it's disgusting.
Remember to cycle bitter melon, 5 days a week consuming it, and 2 days not, give your gut a break.

What if I'm diabetic?
It's not over!
If you use insulin, monitor your blood glucose carefully and discuss any insulin dose changes with your healthcare provider before adding bitter melon.

Well, accutane is much much harder to get than bitter melon, but if you get your hands on accutane it would be much much better than bittermelon.
