80% are “American black” (black but with lighter skin, 5-10% white if taken DNA test

It's complicated. It's true that New York Blacks generally have admixture but the average Black American is still about 75%-90% SSA on average.

Also, having more Black admixture doesn't automatically make your skin jet Black. Case in point:



But it's true that many Black Americans and other New World Blacks are Brown-skinned on average, myself included.

It's funny running into people from India and Guatemala who have browner skin than I do yet I can still tell they're not Black because of their facial features and hair texture.
