Since it is the black history month. Blackcels here should know that black history month is celebrated because of capitalist greed. It started in 1926 as Negro History Week by Carter G. Woodson. He was a historian who later did become a civil rights activist but the reason the corporations accepted the negro week is not because they cared about their black workers or wanted to bring awareness but it was to create a distraction for them to feel important, acknowledged and put up with lower wages compared to white workers.
And these days black history month is just another marketing opportunity for companies. Many corporations use BHM to sell products or boost brand visibility without addressing systemic inequities
Companies like H&M, Zara, and Gucci have released "BHM- themed" clothing lines, often using Black cultural symbols all of which were designed by some french white women sitting in her comfy office..
Walmart also got slammed for "Black History Month" cakes and merch in 2022, which is literally "poverty pimping" due to the company's history of underpaying Black workers
Companies also only donate a tiny fraction of BHM profits to racial justice causes. According to 2021 report less than 1% of the profits of major corporations goes towards black communities
These elites don't give a fuck about black people, black community or black arts. They are just interested in profits and making money while black people keep falling for it thinking it is empowering them and strengthening their community when they are just being a victim of the coonsumer mindset
