The suspect arrested on Tuesday was indicted for murder. He claims to have met Victorine by chance while he was jogging.

The suspect arrested last Tuesday as part of the investigation into the murder at the end of September of young Victorine Dartois in Isère was indicted for murder preceded by an attempted rape, announced Thursday, October 15, the prosecutor of Grenoble , Éric Vaillant, at a press conference. This 25-year-old individual, named Ludovic Bertin, “recognized his involvement” and strangled the 18-year-old woman.

According to the deputy prosecutor of Grenoble, Boris Duffau, the suspect admitted having crossed "by chance" the path of Victorine, while he was jogging. He said he didn't know Victorine before. There was an "involuntary scramble" between Victorine and him, and an argument would have "broken out" and "turned badly". Still according to the deputy prosecutor of Grenoble, the suspect under examination disputes any sexual motive. However, he was indicted for kidnapping, forcible confinement and murder preceded by attempted rape, the body of the young woman having been found without her pants. The prosecution was "not satisfied with these unconvincing statements and on Thursday took a supplementary indictment" for attempted rape which was followed by the three investigating judges who indicted him.
