I was bored and wanted someone to talk to, so I went on a site called Omegle. I have relatively dark skin for an Arab and honestly look Indian to some people. Because of this, when I went on, I received multiple racist comments about my ethnicity from both women and men.
Whenever I tried to talk to a woman, they would instantly skip me or just call me ugly. When they did stay on, they got mad over every little thing, meaning they had a low initial tolerance for me and would have left regardless of what I did. After about 20 minutes, I logged off and decided to continue my homework.
What I learned from this is what people think when they see me in person. When people face no punishment or repercussions from society, they will say what’s on their mind, and when people had the opportunity to do that to me, they certainly did it brutally. The people I see in the real world decide that the best way to shun me is through their silence and by choosing to ignore me, as saying what’s on their mind would cause consequences and shunning me is the second best thing.
