it has little to do with nutrition. it's mostly because women don't need a man to provide for them anymore. the financial status of a man is less important now and the personality and appearance of a man became more important.
if all women suddenly decided they wanted only men who are 6'0 and above the next generation of men will be much taller. that has nothing to do with nutrition and everything to do with genetics.
when wealth is low women select for men with more wealth. but when wealth is low nutrition is also worse, and that's why people often think nutrition is the only reason for the average height increase. just compare japan and south-korea: japanese people don't have a much worse diet than s-koreans, but s-koreans are on average much taller. that's because s-korea has been influenced by the west while japan has stayed more like itself. in japan the wealth of a man is more important than height compared to south-korea.
of course you need a minimal amount of nutrition to reach your potential height, but i've seen so many drug addicted tall guys and healthy short guys who consume high amounts of protein and vegetables. it has a lot more to do with genetics.
