Dear Black Women,
We want to express our deepest apologies for the recent Republican victory. We know that your voices, needs, and perspectives have been undervalued in many political spaces and decisions. Your resilience, strength, and determination have long driven change and uplifted communities, and we recognize that this result may feel like a setback to many of the goals you’ve fought so hard to achieve.
This election outcome may seem to disregard many of the challenges and systemic issues that disproportionately impact Black women. From social justice and equality to healthcare, education, and economic opportunity, the issues that matter deeply to you and your communities deserve urgent attention, respect, and commitment from our leaders.
We apologize for the distress this outcome may cause and for the ways it may feel like a step back from progress toward a more inclusive and fair society. Know that your efforts, your advocacy, and your voice continue to be essential. We see you, we respect you, and we thank you for everything you do to stand for justice and equality every day.
