In Kenya, Corinna opened a grocery store. In 1989, she gave birth to a daughter, Napirai. Due to the harsh living conditions, Corinna suffered several dangerous diseases, including malaria. According to Corinna's autobiography, over the years her husband became unreasonably jealous of her and she made the decision to move back to Switzerland with her daughter. She divorced her husband and left him in 1990.
In 1998, Hofmann published her autobiography White Maasai, which was widely acclaimed and translated into 30 languages. Hofmann followed this with the 2003 sequel Zurück aus Afrika, which described her life in Switzerland after her divorce. In 2005, her third book Wiedersehen in Barsaloi was published, where Hofmann described her return to Kenya and meeting Lketinga. A sequel Afrika, meine Passion was published in 2011.
