Yeah in America black people have a modicum of respect because African Americans have basically ran American pop culture and trends for the past century, they invented jazz, blues, rock n roll, soul music, hiphop, etc. They're very well culturally established because they've been here for so long.

Black people like me who are just the child of immigrants and not actual african americans can thus USE that to our advantage and "ride" that wave if you will.

But blacks in Canada don't have that lengthy history they do here in America, and so they're probably not thought of as highly, thus no halo, thus they're not as desirable
