2009 report “Rape and Justice in Ireland” page 226:
“Although 75.1 per cent were Irish nationals, this is significantly below the 91.5 per cent expected if suspects were proportionally distributed amongst the population. With the exception of suspects from North America, whose numbers were proportionate to the population of North American nationals living in Ireland, all the other nationalities demonstrated a higher than expected frequency of being accused of rape. Particularly significant are the differences between the resident national populations of Africa and Eastern Europe and the number of individuals accused of rape from these coun tries. African men were approximately ten times more likely to be accused of rape than would be expected, and Eastern European suspects were over seven times more likely to be accused given the proportion of the population that comes from Eastern Europe.”
“Nationality of suspects
Ireland: 75.1% Other Western: 6.5% Europe Eastern Europe: 4.9% Africa: 4.9% Asia: 2.4% North America: 0.6% South America: 0.8% Australia/New Zealand:0.5% Unknown: 4.3% Total: 100%”
