I’ve been dealing with a strange type of facial swelling/fluid retention that seems to be triggered very easily by different activities and positions. My face can become noticeably puffier after lying down, eating, brushing my teeth, touching/massaging my face, or even after minor pressure or friction. The swelling can increase relatively quickly throughout the day if I dont do anything to counter it. I also wake up Bloated every morning.

One thing I’ve also noticed is that it becomes dramatically worse when I wear heavy hoodies, tight/high-collar clothing, or anything that traps heat around my neck and face. Heat, pressure, or restricted circulation in that area seem to make the swelling much more noticeable.

What confuses me is that the lymphatic massage of the face that is used to help it drain, often makes it worse, while movement/walking sometimes improves it. I also have slightly enlarged submandibular lymph nodes and persistent acne/inflammation in the facial area, if that can help.

Might have some chronic form of fluid retention :trepidation: When you massage it makes it worse so fluid is probaly being moved but nowhere to drain and the lymph nodes are already overstimulated where the fluid builds even faster than it could be removed. Mabye HCTZ might help but im no doctor

thank you for trying to help

Just spam a potassium sparing diuretics like Eplerenone/Amiloride.
There safe to use long term and they stop you from most possible bloat.

I personally used to use 50-100mg Eplerenone everyday but I ran out
Currently got 200 pills of 50mg Eplerenone on the way though

Mast-cell / histamine-mediated reactivity (physical urticaria, dermatographism, or MCAS-type sensitivity). This fits almost all your triggers touch and friction, pressure, heat trapped by hoodies/collars, eating (food histamine), and crucially the massage worsening it. more mechanical stimulation means more histamine release means more swelling. Movement helps because there's no direct facial friction and circulation improves. The reactive skin/acne could be part of the same picture. A useful probeis a non-drowsy antihistamine (cetirizine/loratadine class, OTC). If it noticeably calms the swelling, that's a strong clue toward this issue. Though worth clearing with a pharmacist first, but the response itself is diagnostically informative.
Bradykinin ediated angioedema. Also pressure and trauma triggered, but characteristically doesn't itch and doesn't respond to antihistamines. So if antihistamines do nothing, this moves up the list. It's managed completely differently, which is why distinguishing it matters.
Submandibular salivary gland involvement. This is the one I'd least want you to sit on. Swelling that worsens specifically with eating, in the submandibular area, is a classic pattern for salivary gland obstruction (e.g. a stone) or inflammation, eating ramps up saliva that can't drain past a blockage. an "enlarged lymph node" could actually be a swollen submandibular gland, which is a different structure. Ultrasound settles this fast.
Systemic puffiness. Morning facial bloating that's worse lying down overlaps with thyroid (hypothyroid puffiness, often periorbital and, less often, kidney fluid handling. Both are cheap to exclude with bloodwork and easy to miss.

I've noticed this too. truth is, it's pretty much only noticeable to you. you're not going to look significantly more bloated/chiseled on an hourly basis, fluctuating back and forth to the average person observing your face. of course it's noticeable when you overanalyze yourself.
