The recent BO2 PS5 controversy has shown how quickly old Call of Duty problems can return, even on modern hardware.

For the last few weeks, players have been reporting cheaters in the newly released Black Ops 2 PS4/PS5 port. The most infamous name appearing in clips and screenshots is "C Isn't Sharp", a username that has become associated with rank resets, stat manipulation, unlock hacks, and other forms of cheating. Activision even disabled certain playlists shortly after launch while investigating reported issues, which confirmed that something serious was happening behind the scenes.

What makes this situation interesting is how much misinformation exists around it. Some people claim the cheater is using a PS5 dev kit. Others argue it is a modified PS4, account manipulation, or some other exploit chain. There is currently no publicly verified explanation accepted by everyone. The only thing that seems clear is that players are able to alter progression and interfere with online matches in ways that were not expected on a fresh PlayStation release.

The controversy escalated when reports began spreading that the person behind the account had been doxxed. However, even that is disputed. Some community members claim the information belongs to the real individual responsible, while others argue the leaked information may belong to someone unrelated or that multiple people are using the same name and tools. Because of that uncertainty, it is difficult to know what is true and what is simply internet rumor.

The bigger issue is what this says about online gaming in 2026. Many players assumed a PS5 release would be protected from the kinds of hacking that plagued older Xbox 360 and PS3 Call of Duty titles. Instead, within days of launch, people were already discussing exploits, modified accounts, possible development hardware, and progression manipulation. Whether the culprit is one person or multiple groups, the result is the same: legitimate players lose trust in the multiplayer environment.

At this point, the discussion should be less about glorifying a single cheater and more about why a newly released port was vulnerable in the first place. The fact that we're already debating dev kits, exploits, rank resets, and doxxing only weeks after release says a lot about the state of these ports.
