Theory:
Basically the looksmaxer equivalent of gymcel body fat % is abdominal fat layer thickness - just pinch the skin around your abdominal region (the most fat spot around the belly button).
Why:
Why is it relevant for facial leanness? Cos abdominal body fat is the area with the highest correlation to facial leanness. Every other area of the body is just your unique fat distributions parameters. Visual examples proof later.
Target zones of abdominal fat layer thickness:
- Skin layer thickness without any fat underneath: 1-2mm
It’s basically dick skin. Impossible to get there.
- Extreme level: 2-3mm
No perceivable fat layer, just skin = maximum facial leanness. Still almost impossible to achieve for most people.
- Extreme, but realistic level: 4-6mm
Maximum facial leanness for some people with top tier fat pads and facial soft tissues qualities. Actually possible to achieve for many people (I’m currently at this level btw).
- Realistic target level for optimal facial aesthetics: 6-8mm
Not the most optimal for facial definition and visible depth, but would still appear as impressively lean face, at least for normies irl.
Some explanation:
You see a lot of variability in bf% fitness bloggers, some have super lean stomach, without extreme crispiness and muscle striations in the limbs - arms, legs and butt. Yet their facial adiposity is as low as it can get. Such people as for example David Laid, Shizzylifts, Calum Von Mogger and young Brad Pitt. Many people would put their bf% at around 10% yet for looksmaxing (facial aesthetics primarily) purposes it’s actually maxed out, cos their abdominal area bf% is lean enough.
Visual examples:
1. Prime David Laid - around 2-4mm abdominal skin layer thickness: extremely thin abdominal fat layer = extremely low facial fat, NOT super low looking actual bf% in the whole body:

2. Shizzy - around 2-4mm abdominal skin layer thickness: extremely thin abdominal fat layer = extremely low facial fat, but still not extremely low looking bf% in the limbs:

3. Calum Von Mogger - around 2-4mm abdominal skin layer thickness: same thing (ignore the veins, it’s just his individual feature):

4. Brad Pitt - around 4-6mm abdominal skin layer thickness: same story:

Practical application:
- Looksmaxing bf% = your abdominal area fat (skin) layer thickness, so measure it and focus on reducing it to reach the mentioned optimal levels:
Stop guessing your actual bf% it’s not that relevant anyways. Just buy the skin caliper, it’s shows the skin layer thickness in mm (you see this guy has around 14mm skin layer thickness):
