i think we can all agree that the lower bodyfat you are, the better your face looks. once you get down to a legitimate 8% bodyfat, you get as sharp of a submental as possible, your bones all pop out, and you look defined when speaking/smiling rather than looking like a bloated recessed chipmunk whose mouth area is sinking into his fat-covered cheeks.
the issue is that it's very hard to not look frail at 8% bodyfat, which is why it's ideal to build as much muscle as possible: because once you cut down into a severely lean and glycogen depleted state, it's almost impossible to look too big. I don't think people understand just how much of people's size is due to fat and glycogen--it's EXTREMELY hard to look huge at 8% bodyfat
it's not possible to look "too freaky" when shredded unless you're a manlet IFBB pro. I don't even think it's possible at all if you're tall. it's easier to look freaky if you're wearing a wifebeater or going shirtless but these are a character failo anyway--they make you appear vain and low trust. the objective should be to have striking enough traits that can speak for themselves even when you aren't flaunting them.
take jeff seid as an example:
these images are from the day of his bodybuilding show (which he WON). he's wearing normal clothes (his forearms are fully visible, and his forearms are actually a strongpoint compared to his upper arms). he doesn't look particularly freaky, big, or even lean despite being around 7% bodyfat and having trained for 17 years with decent genetics.
and you wonder why you look so bad in candids? no wonder you'll look like a marshmallow in candids if even shredded bodybuilders who have trained for nearly 2 decades look normal in regular clothes and lighting.
in the past 2 months I've cut from around 19-20% bodyfat to around 12%, and I plan to reach 8% bodyfat and then never ever go past 10% again. from working as a bouncer I've seen the halo that twinks can get when they have extremely chiseled faces with their masseters and zygos popping out of their face. i can guarantee they would do worse even if they had a regular 15% bodyfat tier "lean face". but it's a whole new halo when you have an ultra chiseled face + still remain a formidable size.
- inb4 bringing up a subhuman-faced bodybuilder (he still would've looked way worse if he was skinnyfat)
- inb4 invoking a top tier olympian like ronnie coleman as proof that you can still look freaky in prep, and using this as a justification for why you, Cornelius Eugene Gupta Jr at 130lb 20% bodyfat, should not go to the gym
