It's a mix of both, bonesmashing won't have any real effect without elevated IGF-1. So if you're past puberty bonesmashing won't work unless you take exogenous hormones like HGH

Trauma can definitely damage your eyebrow follicles ,but I guess it depends on how your bonesmashing I suggest as your eyebrow ridge is typically weaker/less dense then your zygos that you go for longer sets and lighter hits ,also you could pull your skin up a bit higher whilst your smashing your ridge. However be careful as then your eyelid skin would be higher and that's quite sensitive and has a lot of nerves
