Uk actually has very stable governments for the last 45 years and the elections are every 5 years. Occasionally someone calls an election a year or 2 early because they are v popular so prefer to strike while the iron is hot and get it out of the way.

However since brexit this has not been the case basically because brexit is impossible, ungovernable, and unsustainable, hence there has been a lot more jumping around.
