I got braces (24 years old) and from orthodontist told me my overbite will be "fixed"
But from what I've read, fixing overbite is about recessing maxilla (because bone which holds teeth is connected to maxilla) to match it with lower jaw

Should I take off my braces as soon as possible?

They do this shit so often. I think you should consult as soon as possible with a proper orthodontist.

Pics would be useful

Overbite could mean your mandible is recessed

they cant only "fix" it by that method with either molar extraction or elastics

I have Damon braces and Damon braces can fix overbite without elastics

It's gonna make it even worse

damon braces are good
But Damon braces still fix overbite - just in a different way:

The Damon system uses self-ligating braces, which means that instead of using elastic rings (ligatures) to attach the arch wire to the brackets, the wire is attached directly to the brackets
