Braces don’t actually “recess” the maxilla

Even though it may seem that “braces” flatten the maxilla or recess it, this is simply not true in fact (with research) braces can fix slight underbites. Also braces could narrow the palette but this can be compensated with expanders. If the maxilla looks recessed after the treatment it could be your maxilla’s fault instead of the braces. Braces simply try to correct the bite of the teeth (depending on severity of malocclusion).

Depends on what method your orthodontist is using. But of course braces dont insta recess you. Youll always hear bimax, but people forget that nearly every bimax has braces after included jfl.

All braces really do is just align your teeth. It may not look recessed before probably because your philtrum was angled maybe due to an overjet.
