Braces elastic making me recessed??

My ortho said to wear an elastic only one one side and from my canine to my molar to fix my slight overbite but I heard it can make me recessed, how can I wear to not make me recessed and my ortho not know I’m wearing them diff

it recesses soft tissue placement overtime if pulled where u dont want it to thos the tissue adapts to the tension not direct bone recession and can change ur posture

its fixable but you should ask if its possible for him to pull your mandible foward not back when applying the elastics i could be wrong @mohito knows

It's true elastics can slightly affect soft tissue over time but they don't directly push the jaw back. Their effect is mainly on the teeth

i feel like most people here including me just put a muh bsso muh lefort but dont dig into why it is needed you know

also a honorable mention would be covering the canine fossa i think its the most underrated part of the face
