Braces elastics question

So I have to wear class 2 rubber bands for an overbite, that kinda pull my mandible forward, but does this recess my maxilla or not? And does it actually give me a little less mandible recession or will it just stay the same?

Yes but the severity of it depends on how badly your mandible is recessed
