Braces for overbite at 18

Ive always had straight teeth so I never got braces but now that im older I have an overbite and I was wondering if braces would help my jaw any. ive seen some say it can cause midface recession tho

its gonna look less recessed but it'll still be the same if you really focus, but it does make you look better and improves harmony (because of lips)
