Braces + rubber bands

I need help fast I am going to get braces and they are planning on giving me rubber bands for a 6.1mm overbite but I’m worried it will pull my top jaw back as well as pulling my lower jaw forward should I refuse and ask for something else or am I worried for no reason please help

6mm overbite is pretty moderate, whats your age since that determines how much its gonna change your skeletal profile, its quite minimal after 12 tho so its really nothing to worry about. The primary goal is to move your teeth and not your jaw so no it wont cause any noticeable changes to jaw obviously. You would only really see changes in your lip area as it would bring back your upper lip a bit so they sit in a good harmonious balance with your lower lip. Btw js make sure they dont do any extractions by all means possible.
