Braces shortening philtrum?

Can braces visibly shorten philtrum by the brackets pushing the lip out a bit?

Yes not real shortening. Was mainly just asking about temporary visible shortening. Is that something the braces would do? And do you know how much visible reduction you could expect?

Braces can cause a temporary visible change, but not a true shortening of the philtrum. Brackets and wires add bulk to the front of the teeth, which can slightly push the upper lip forwards and make the philtrum look shorter at rest, especially early in treatment. Any visible reduction is typically subtle, on the order of a millimetre or two, and often diminishes as alignment progresses and the lip adapts.
