thinking of getting braces to push my mandible fowards, i have some type of government insurance that covers all "necessary" procedures, but doesnt cover cosmetic, any idea what i can tell my orthodontist to make him believe i want to for health reasons? i have a slight overbite so ive thought that i could lie about fatigue in my masseter when i rest and how im afraid of chipping the overjet, any other ideas or ways i could reword these reasons to make it seem more urgent and necessary for health?

Braces don’t push ur mandible forward😭

Where are you from? It depends on whether braces are deemed a necessary or cosmetic treatment in your area. In countries that do cover braces, typically your occlusion needs to fulfill certain criterias for coverage.
there are braces with rubber bands that push the mandible fowards
Works only in children where the jaws are still growing

not sure how it works there with braces, probably depends entirely on your provider. need to do your own research or just contact them directly

from personal experience and anecdotes ive heard i would say yeah. the science is not clear cut here though and most orthos say no, then again most orthos dont think braces can ruin your face when they clearly can
