i have braces (slight overbite) and realized i have a recessed maxilla, will the braces make it worse or better? i’m still very young and wondering if there’s anything i can do

It will make it worse. Elastics for an overbite will pull your maxilla backwards and bring your mandible forwards. If your maxilla is already recessed, it's over.
