I got a theory about why this guy died.

He probably sold his sold to be in the NBA, like many players do. Deemed un fit of greatness because of his souls worthlessness, Brandon only became a shitty role player on the grizzlies.

Eventually he faced the punishment for selling the soul, a mysterious death.
