I am 5"5 and will probably get LL this year. Recovery till walking normally is usually between 4 and 6 months for 8cm.
So its 6 months max. Running is at about 8 to 12 months but who cares.
Its 3 months that are quite hard but doable.
Idiotic thing you said is that lifts make a similar effect which is false cause LL increases your base height ie with lifts you will be even taller.
