The womb of an old woman is an inferior environment than the womb of a youthful woman, but women are born with all their eggs so purely genetically it's not so bad. On the other hand, us men acquire more germline mutations over the course of our lives. This is why fathers that do things that raise oxidative stress like smoking being fat and out of shape make offspring more subhuman, the oxidative stress causes more mutations which are overwhelmingly bad (mutational load theory) resulting in inferior offspring.
