Historically, the purpose of socializing with others has been to network. You meet other people, ask a bunch of pointless questions nobody cares about (what do you do for a living? Where do you live? etc), do small talk, etc, and then once everyone is comfortable with your presence you move on to matters that are actually important (and the reason you started the conversation in the first place).
But then social media and tinder happened, and suddenly there's no real need to do this anymore.
Want to do business? You can do this through the internet. Need somebody to do a quick job? You can just hire freelancers online. Want to get laid? Just fire up Tinder and find somebody.
Tinder+social media has DECIMATED the need to interact with other people outside of work situations. Literally there is no reason to care. Humans do NOT crave other people's company. They just need them for their resources or sex. Take those things away, and nobody gives a shit. Humans do not have an innate need to socialize with other people except maybe very infrequently and for only limited periods of time.
