I know a lot of older threads are already available on google searches, and it's probably not like they'll try to scour the forum for older threads unless they're really that determined anyway, but we should at least have this protection in place to help slow down their ability to do so just to help protect ourselves better tbh.

Most lurkers probably hardly ever go deeper into older threads which means most lurker traffic for ads comes from recent threads on the main page, that is unless they're some of the few who actively search for them on google via an advanced site specific search.

Besides, why not just bring ads back for users to help cover some of the running costs tbh?

Sure, some might complain but most probably wouldn't mind if they're not too annoying or overly pushy, and I imagine most would be pretty on board with the idea due to the scare from this recent situation.
