BSSO vs MSOD what's the differenece?

They both involve cutting the mandible and moving it forward to get more forward growth. However MSE is typically used with MSOD and BSSO is typically used with bimax. So what's the difference between the two?

MSDO causes lateral expansion, it is the exact same principle as MSE

BSSO gives forward projection of the chin and jaw while MSDO increases chin width and bigonial width
