It might sound paradoxical, but atheism is rooted in Christianity. The process started with Martin Luther in 1526, John Calvin estabilished the philosophical basis of capitalism with protestantism.

The age of enlightment in the 18th century challenged God’s concept. The French revolution eventually led to the separation of state and church

Nietzche declared God is dead in the late 19th century, meaning that the people of Europe have surpassed the need for a divine being

All of this wouldn’t have been possible in any other religion, the eventual birth of atheism stems from Christianity

Agnostic atheism is the lack of belief in gods. I don't see how it requires Christianity.

Religion is a basic requirement of humans from the start up until a certain civilizational point. To be an atheist now, the generations before had to reach this threshold.

You don’t need to be Christian now, but your ancestors had to be so they could reach conclusions. Other religions, most notably Islam, lack the ability for philosophical growth

In a sense capitalism has replaced Christianity as a religion in the West, which started with John Calvin as I have writen in the previous post.

I consider myself culturally Catholic Christian

I am fully aware of it’s mythology and it’s inprints on our culture, but I’m not actively partaking in rituals, even though I’m baptized.

I find it impossible to reconcile the active existence of a deity in our daily life, as I am too blackpilled about the physical world, I understand it’s working mechanisms.

On the other hand I don’t rule out the possibility that the universe was started by an omnipotent power. It seems no less plausible to me than the Big bang theory - but since I will never know the truth about it, I deem it a waste of time to philosophize on it

Religion is also a lot about metaphysics rather than pure faith, rituals, or a moral rulebook. That way, a lot of modern "atheists" just follow Christian metaphysics, and even general morality tbh

I agree that you can't rule out an omnipotent creator. We don't really know much about the start of the universe, and even then we can't really comprehend the idea of a start, either the idea of things always existing, or somehow popping into existence don't make sense logically and are mystical.
I'm not religious at all though. I also think anything like this would be beyond our understanding, and I don't think most religions really have a logical basis to claim that they're right (happy to be proven wrong though)
