I bulked for a month and got fat to build muscle, like I am supposed to do, but it ruined my face in the process, albeit not permanently. I might quit bulking and start to get lean as I build muscle. My ideal body is an athletic one. As I am not trying to become a mountain of muscles, I think bulking for months is unnecessary. Too risky.

Bulking without steroids is absolutely retarded. You are ruining your looks to gain muscle at perhaps a slightly greater but still pathetic natural rate. A lot of the bulking "gains" are from glycogen saturation and will go away quickly once you stop eating as much.

eat a lot of high GI carbohydrate before you exercise (glucose, maltodextrin)

What's GI carbs,?

It's specifically Pasta / noodles that turns me into a bloatcel.

GI = glycemic index, i.e. I'm telling you to eat sugars that hit your bloodstream fast before a workout to saturate your glycogen

So we should really Roid ?
☹️

just lean bulk

Just stay at the level of body fat your body is comfortable with and build muscle there, no need to bulk beyond that level. At some point when you add a few pounds of muscle, cut.

That's just how it is

Bulk slower or deal with it, honestly I was feeling the same cuz my acne was fucked and I looked like a bloated diseased Manlet

If you weren't getting poon anyway it doesn't matter

How many pounds did you gain in that one month though? Even as a novice, you shouldn't be gaining more than 2% of your body weight in one month. Like maybe you'll gain more muscle if you bulk aggressively. But you'll have to cut a lot more body fat too.
I've put on 18.4 lbs in 261 days (37 weeks 1 day). That's a rate of less than 0.5 lbs/week. That's less than 250 surplus calories per day. And despite gaining 18.4 lbs, I haven't gained a whole lot of body fat. And I'm a natural at 37 years old. Obviously its impossible to gain that much weight without having some body fat gain.
Maingaining is a meme. The process of gaining muscle mass and burning body fat simultaneously eating at calorie maintenance is very slow. You're better off doing a slow controlled bulk. It doesn't have to be just lean/clean eating - chicken, steak, tuna, pork, eggs, rice, pasta, bread and boiled/baked potatoes, cheese, milk, peanut butter, butter, olive oil, whey protein powder. You can eat McDonald's. Processed food. You just need to balance that out with lean proteins to keep your calorie to protein ratio where it needs to be. Just don't go overboard calorie wise with the dirty bulk. I've been eating dirty for the past 8 weeks and I've gained 0 lbs. Because I'm not eating enough calories. Gaining weight was easy when I was 126.4 lbs. But now at 144.8 lbs it's been getting harder to gain weight. Because the more muscle mass you have on your frame and the harder you train, the more calories you burn.

Lemme guess, you follow Greg Doucette on YouTube?
Maingaining works. It's just far slower than the traditional bulk and cut cycles. And bulking already takes a long time to begin with. Apparently cutting can be done far quicker without much muscle loss. But I plan on being conservative with my next cut because I don't want to lose too much of my gains.
The down side with bulk and cut cycles is that hard gainers like myself literally have to force feed in order to gain weight. While cutting makes it very difficult to have a social life. My FWB wants to go out for all-you-can-eat sushi tomorrow. I'm bulking so that's fine. But if I'm cutting, one all-you-can-eat sushi or Japanese BBQ sesh can undo days of progress in your cut. lmfao.

I know Greg Doucette but this one I tested on myself years before I watched Greg. I tried bulking and it did absolutley nothing to my rate of muscle gain. It's possible however that bulking works for some people, we all have different genetics and respond to things slightly different

Yeah just go with whatever works for you and whatever timeline you are comfortable with. Personally I prefer doing bulk and cut because its faster. When I looked back to a picture of me on July 5th 2022 when I was 144.8-145.8 lbs evening weight both my face and body were noticeably fatter than I am now at 144.8 lbs morning weight. So I'm probably slightly heavier now but I'm leaner and more muscular from where I started. And this was after doing a cut then a bulk cycle. The drawback to doing things my way is that my next cut is going to be a pain in the ass. Because my Asian FWB loves to eat all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese BBQ. lmfao.
