Cal AI but cheaper???

Ay so ima keep this short so i dont get dnr'd.


I made a working model of Cal.ai but with additional features.

• Built in bmi tracker
• A cut/maintenance/bulk calorie calc built in
• Vitamin/supplement tracker
• Offline mode so you can manually log items
• Water intake tracker
• Custom macro targets

and these are the features im planning on adding soon.

• Goal Streaks and Rewards
• Favorites Section
• Progress Sharing
• Shared Groups & Friend Feeds.

Im still working on the mobile layout tho, its finished but i dont really like the way it looks as of right now.

Im also using gemini 2.5 flash for the image analysis cus its pretty cheap at about 20-30 dollars per million tokens BUT im on the free version rn and i keep running out (so no testing for the next 2-3 days, im letting my tokens pile now)

Btw for computer vision stuff there certain APIs that you can call and only use Gemini for analysis part after maping out the ratios and stuff. There's a tiered system approach face.ai and other platforms use.

I think ill stick to 2.5 flash for now for the entire analysis tho, im trying to keep it simple cus i dont wanna complicate the codebase lol

Why dont you use glm 5.2 i heard its cheaper compared to fable and better than opus 4.8, then maybe you might not need it

oh yeah i could try them out as well, rn im just sticking to free api keys with a high limit so i don’t have to worry about having to pay for it. (my budget is literally 2 dollars bruh)
