A high school senior in California has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot up a school, and possessing a ghost gun, police in Menifee said Sunday.

The 17-year-old’s threat did not mention a school by name, police said of the Heritage High School student. The town is about 75 miles east of Los Angeles.

People who saw the posts on social media called police, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. The teen, whom police did not identify, did not seem to have a prior criminal record and was booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall. Charges include making criminal threats, possession of brass knuckles and possession of an unregistered firearm, ABC News reported.

The firearm was deemed a so-called ghost gun because it appeared to have been assembled from a kit, and it lacked a serial number, Captain Dave Gutierrez told the news outlet.

After being alerted to the social media posts, police obtained a search warrant and intercepted the youth Sunday at about 2 p.m. as he was returning home, which is when the gun and the knuckles were found, reported ABC News. They also notified the Perris Union School District.

Besides the weapons, the teen had allegedly been harassing students, ABC News reported.

“All threats, whether specific, implied or otherwise, that cause fear in our community will not be tolerated,” the police department said in a statement obtained by ABC News. “MPD is committed to using all available resources to ensure we hold the person(s) responsible for such threats accountable for their actions. These threats are disruptive to our school sites and require many hours of law enforcement investigation.”

Society aren't interested in stopping bullying though unless they just have to wear a pink shirt once a year
