after buying some weights i actually feel my body aching after a workout for the first time

turns out all the pushups and dips and copesthenics exercises i did were useless and did not tear my muscles despite going for failure every time

brb last 5 months wasted

i used to cope by saying calisthenics is more "fun" but honestly its fucking dreadful reaching the desired reps and it destroys my joints whereas benching and deadlifting for the 1st time today had me all fuken pumped up and pushing for that last rep was actually enjoyable and doable, despite it being harder

utter shit for leg growth but u can get reasonable muscle with WEIGHTED dips/pull ups. otherwise u are going to be doing like 30 reps lol.

Calistenthics is so for skinny cunts who cant pick up a weight.
It takes a way longer time to build a good physique with it. Weight-lifting will give you actual Doms and make you FEEL like your making progress

true man, im still in awe how much more i can push myself by lifting weights compared to bodyweight exercises.
shit like pull ups and dips just drain me so hard and i just want to get them over with, meanwhile it feels so good doing that one last rep of your bench despite barely having anymore strength for it

Mechanical loading is critical to hypertrophy. Intensities <80% of 1RM do not optimally stimulate the muscle fibres. It's not very easy to load 80% + of your 1RM with just your body unless you are brand new.

There is a difference between ruining your joints with heavy barbell exercises and using dumbells etc. Plus how much volume did you do with calisthenics? You can't just do low volume and expect results. The reason you feel less "sore" on calisthenics is due to it not fucking up your joints and ligaments as much as its a more natural way of exercising using many muscle groups.

Anyway I smell larp.

Calisthenics is king for beginners imo, but wouldn't you agree that it's easier to gain volume with weights in a gym?

It depends on the routine etc. In general a calisthenics program is going to have more volume than gym program as nobody stays in the gym for hours. More volume = more mass

true what did you expect ? i still use dumbells as well so i can isolate every muscle , also dont tell me you were just doing pushups to failure and expected instant results jfl those are for my warmup or rest days .

Good find. I haven't seen this study and it's one of the very few I've seen that challenges the mechanical loading hypothesis. There is a dearth of studies supporting mechanical load as critical to the hypertrophic response, but this is very interesting.

you don't know how to train with calisthenics . and I'm pretty sure you're still around beginner level, so I'm surprised you didn't get results

That's not even possible. Did you do high volume and use progressive overload?

Yes I barely made progress the thing is I'm an ectomorph and extremely tall so that probably contributed to it. I probably didn't eat enough honestly.

Being tall makes calisthenics even better. The range of motion you get from a pull up with long arms is a lot. I am not saying to continue with calisthenics if it doesn't suit you but check out this guy, he is 190cm and got good results with calisthenics. His articles are very good.

what are you chad or something lol, if anything bodyweight or cali is far more superior for small boned guys than going heavy on weights lol
