The main advantages of weight lifting are:

1. Smaller steps up in weight are available so you can easily keep working in the same rep range by adding tiny weights each time. In calisthenics the jumps are enormous between say (push up / archer push up / true 1 arm push up) but you can improve this using a weighted vest or backpack.

2. For someone really weak, many calisthenics may be simply impossible such as pull ups.

3. Calisthenics maxes out at the equivalent of body weight OHP, 1.5x body weight bench, 1x body weight squat, and has no real effective deadlift (no real upper limit to back training though, 1-arm chin-ups are elite tier by default). If you have good genetics or care about legs, you will outgrow it (although arguably getting into male gaze territory at that point)

I got excellent results from Calisthenics, the pull ups really widened my back and high rep push ups took my bench 1RM from 80 to 100kg without benching at all.

Dunno if I’d have achieved the same if I started with calisthenics to begin with instead of having a (5 years) weight lifting background.

Yes my genetics are shit.
 
i fuck with bodyweight training more, as long as your reps are in between 5 and 30 and you train close to failure (0-2 RIR) your grow pretty much the same
