I noticed that I look exponentially better when I take pictures with my iPhone 8 whereas when I took pics with my iPhone 5, I looked like utter shit. iPhone 5 camera has more lens distortion, makes your face look “pale” and makes your eyebrows/hair/eyelashes look thinner and lighter than they really are.

What about proportions. Does iPhone 5 make things look more narrow/wide.

I have a moto C phone and this shit makes everything narrower. I have confirmed this by measuring real proportions of things vs how they appear on photos.

I noticed that expensive smartphones tend to already use some kind of facial beauty enhancer in their front cameras because they know how regularly people take selfies.

My suggestion would be to take the product of a front-facing phone camera with a pinch of salt.

Just take a picture with the back camera at a distance of 10 feet.
