tbh I haven't been very fond of presuming my cs career and wanted to switch to finance because it leads to a rich lifestyle and investment banking n shi but it requires a target school and I'm not in a one so I'm gonna have to strengthen it with a masters compared to SWE dhbw program (getting paid while I learn only three years instead of five) and it's a perfect base for overemployment and the gap between SWE and IB isn't that big in Europe but it's NO where near IB prestige plus studying finance itself is a good base for building wealth later
btw i can switch to a ML researching career instead

if you can work remotely for like US companies and get 300k USD in like 5-10 years you can live in some SEA countires like a king, shit, even like an emperor.

like you can rent a fucking penthouse with a personal beach for like 5k usd a month maybe? even like mid US salary is king there.

but i actually recommend going to into data engineer or ML tbh. SWE is kinda dead rn.

but to my knowledge most of these high end roles in hih end companies are usually on-site anyway

i mean team lead and above is probs on site, but like regular senior engineer who gets like 200k atleast will probs get the remote.
and it also depends on company, i find that mid-sized companies usually are the best.

You can make 6 figures at around 26/27 with a good uni CS degree, but if you've only just thought of the idea and you've not been solving calculus since 12 don't expect a high salary out the door.

And you can't just 'switch to a ML career' JFL, it takes more than knowing basic programming. You need to be fluent in mathematics.

Doing CS in 2026 is like trying to be a pro footballer. You're ngmi. Only a few select >5% are going to make it and they will make megabucks at companies like Facebook, OpenAI and other places.

The rest of them are not needed. CS was easy route to a job before LLMs now they are as good as journalism degrees. Actually I would say mickey mouse degrees like journalism is far better coz at least you have to do primary research with journalism lol.
