i'm currently 17 yo (18 in a few months) and ever since i started puberty ive gotten small pimples and tiny breakouts here and there but i've never had "bad acne" persay, i would actually consider skin pretty good compared to my peers. obviously occasional pimple here or there but never horrible. over the past few months-half a year my acne has gotten much worse. my skin is at a point where its pretty bad for my standards; i dont have a full pizza face but i definitely have some noticeable acne. i was on tret for a while but my skin was only getting worse so i went to a derm and they prescribed me epiduo and 100mg doxycycyline daily. they said if this didnt work we could discuss accutane. i purged pretty bad from the epiduo/doxycycline and i kinda lost hope for that route. i currently am like 3 weeks away from my follow up appointment and although my skin has calmed down and gotten alright i still have acne and im sick of it i just wanna nuke it once and for all.

My main skin issues are acne and very oily skin. I believe I would benefit a lot from lower dosage accutane, and I dgaf about the side effects like dryness or whatever but I am quite concerned about what I heard regarding stunting height growth. Im definitely pretty far into puberty rn but I was a late bloomer and I am still not tall as my father; he often tells me how he kept growing up until his very early twenties. I don't want to jeopordize closing my plates as I'd like to get as tall as I genetically possibly can but I also want clear skin extremely bad.

Does anyone have any advice regarding this? i know the studies on isotret closing plates is very unclear but i don't want to take a risk with my height whilst at the same time i want mogger skin

It mostly slows it a little but you still get the size you are supposed to get

slows it a little. impacts igf-1 production and suppresses the body’s natural inflammatory response which is essential for bone growth. it doesn’t however stunt growth, just slows temporarily during your course.

thank you guys i appreciate the responses. yea from the research i done and what you guys have said it doesnt seem likely to stunt growth unless ur obviously using giga high doses which shouldnt be an issue because i plan to go on a lower dosage if i decide to hop on it. i'm not trying to come off as combative as i'm genuinely just trying to understand this, but how does it slow your growth without repercussions? like if ur igf-1 production and natural inflammatory responses are impacted how does ur body take this hit and then once ur off it just simply bounce back from it and allow u to reach ur original fah? is your growth sort of in a "frozen" state and then once ur off you simply resume the process of growth? I apologize for low iq terminology I am not very well educated on these topics but I am genuinely trying to understand this as I'd love to hop on accutane this is just my only concern
