Can anybody look good under the right lighting?

If I take a picture of myself under bright direct lighting I look really good but in dim/ diffuse lighting I usually look pretty average. If I try to I can also make myself look ugly af in a picture. So my question is basically, which one is the "real" me? If Chad took a selfie under shitty lighting would he still look decent?

Would be curious to see if anyone has comparison photos of themselves or others in good vs. bad lighting...

Pictures are not accurate representations. Even looking in the mirror is a more realistic representation of what you look like.

For the most accurate representation you need a good lens objective to film you in motion in natural light.
