Can anyone tell me why a lot of people look better when they are really young?

I think I was really good looking as a child. One time I got randomly asked to act in a movie when I was a child( don’t know if it’s true but my parents told me that). But how can this much potential be ruined or am I just delusional. Here are pics of me when I was a child and now. I’m 16 now and the photo when I was young are like when I was 5-7 .
