I can explain. Moving the chin forward and especially down (in conjunction with the additional soft tissue retraction inherent from cutting the mentalis muscle to begin with) often brings the lower lip down and causes the lips to meet at a relatively lower position than before. May or may not improve a little with time and softening of scar tissue
