Braces will have zero effect on the jaw.

I'm going to assume you are not doing any jaw surgery in the future, because you are going to have to get braces again.

Depends. If you have an overbite then the retarded dentists will pull back your maxilla making you look more recessed. But if you just have crooked teeth or crossbite you will be ok

I apparently have a cross bite and overbite, which is weird because in every other consult w other orthos they never said I had an overbite.

No unless you use some kind of pulling device like elastics or some herbst appliance. Extractions do change the face significantly tho. Give you hollow cheeks. Many models get it done

had elastics only on upper right last 3 teeths for like 2 months but bef elastics, normal braces fckd my jaw very very bad
Like braces pulled my lower teeth backwards and to fix that, i stopped wearing retainers after braces and started facepulling

Doesn’t it depend on your age as well, I wore my braces for 3.5 years from grade 6 , my side profile at that time looked like a football

Major factor is tooth extractions , Never get your upper teeth extracted, I used to have buck teeth and an overbite, 4 teeth removed (2113/2113) did all the elastics and everything turned out fine

thought the same until I tried it myself.
I know a lot of people who didn’t wear their retainers, and nothing happened.
For me, retainers were just a waste of money.
