Can braces move your lower jaw forward?

He’s referring to moving teeth on your lower arch forward, not the jaw itself that’s anatomically impossible

There’s a bit of play in the TMJ. If the teeth occluded differently then the closed bite jaw position could be advanced a little using that slack.

Many of us with recession use that play to jut our jaws but it’s not possible to close your teeth in that position and nor does it actually give you a longer jawline (obviously) just makes it a little less obvious you’re recessed.

I linked the thread where i posted my jaw in the last comment, can you see if that's my case?

He’s still gonna push your maxilla backwards but he’s telling you that he’s merely bringing your lower jaw forward because he thinks there wont be any way for you to tell, don’t see him again, no retraction orthodontics!

if you have jaw and palate problems get the right osteotomies and palatal expansion if you need it and then get invisalign or braces afterwards
I have researched this shit for like a year expander is cope for me and surgery is overkill this is the only way unfortunately.
You can still get bimax afterward if you start seeing it's fucking you up.

you probably suck at physics but if you put elastics on your upper teeth and to your lower teeth, it creates a push and pull scenario where your lower jaw gets pulled forwards and your upper jaw get pushed backwards bc the force of the elastic meets in the middle.

I talked to my orthodontist since he First proposed me to wear braces with elastics and pull back the upper teeth, i refused that and he said that he Will no longer pull my upper teeth back but he Will move my lower jaw forward, can he do that? should I trust him?

Please don’t think you know more than dentists. They will try and Jew you with extractions but that’s because they don’t give a fuck about bone loss. If he’s a reputable dentist and he’s offering you braces and elastics it’s because your malocclusion isn’t significant enough for osteotomies and any aesthetic benefit (lips and chin) will outweigh any (minor) aesthetic loss (very insignificant loss in maxillary projection). Elastics will bring your maxilla back and mandible forward so the net result is a small decrease in maxilla projection. Nothing to worry about and won’t descend you as long as your dentist is reputable and the treatment is justified.
