Can i ask surgeon to just do maxilla downgraft?

I dont show upper teeth but have good jaw ratios and bite. Can i ask surgeon to just lengthen upper jaw

Maybe. The mandible would have to rotate to accomodate the change.

It will increase your occlusal plane angle and reduce your jaw opening.
Your mandible will appear steeper. You might look slightly more recessed.

If you want to avoid these side effects it would need to be bimax.

bimax with downgraft?
I just want to fix maxilla, 3-4 mms of length would fix my incel smile and teeth show, i doubt side profile will change much

It’ll change your occlusal plane by about 2-3 degrees more downswing. Same for mandible angle. Apart from the teeth show that would be the main change you’d notice. As long as your angles are good already (not borderline downswing) it shouldn’t be an issue.

will i need braces? I already had braces and i hate it so much. Just getting downgraft, how expensive would it be usually in turkey and how long the process

You will not need braces if your bite is good. They’ll just lock your maxilla to your mandible, cut it, then swing it open by 4mm as one piece.

I don’t know about cost. I would not want to be paying more than 10k for sure for something that simple. Recovery probably the same as bimax so couple months.

Is it risky? What are the chances of something not going as planned or getting botched, like if they dont do it symetrically

Yes because the TMJs are not perfect joints, they have play in them.

I defo need downgraft coz i show no upper teeth when i open my mouth and when i smile i barely show upper teeth. How much mm would u have me downgraft?
