Yeah Kojic acid is pretty weak using as a stand alone skin lightener. You need to use a good lightening cream afterwards Something with at least 2% hydroquinone should be good enough. Also use sunscreen.

Anything with "1-Methylhydantoin-2-Imide" will do wonders since it has been demonstrated to inhibit tyrosinase activity in melanocytes which allows for skin brightening
