Can lens distortion make your asymmetries worse?

I am very asymmetrical because of a uniform development in my upper jaw. Making one eye have a better ct, more malar projection, less pronounced smile lines, better lips among many other things. And in front cam photos with a 12 mp lens it does make me look very deformed (tbf I am) but in candids & 50mp + lens photos my asymmetries are less pronounced to almost unnoticeable (will attach images later to show some proof)

Better in real life because a 2d image flattens out the face and makes asymmetries more noticeable
