Narcissism is a compensatory mechanism

Any 'narcissist' relies on such attempts as a means of ego sufficiency because their ego is something so fragile that it needs constant maintenance via delusion to be kept afloat lol

I never care when my mom tells me to go visit someone from the family because X happened to them. I don't care, I only care abt my problems

Also, I always do the thing that's best for me without considering that much other's opinions (not trying to sound edgy lmao)

Its normal for young men to develop narcy dellusions as its just our competitive hierarchical animal instinct manifesting

Its only a disorder - neurosis or psychosis - if it causes you considerable suffering or it erodes your relationship with other ppl and it usually happens when despite getting reality checked (for an example when other ppl arent interested in putting you on a pedestal) the narcisist sticks to the dellusion or takes it to dangerous territory (what happened with ER)

I was VERY narcisist in my late teens and early 20s - inherited from my mom who is also narcy, and my dad to a degree as well

im glad i somewhat grew out of it

Ofc I wanna be valued by others and I get sad if it doesn't happen, but I don't expect that to happen in the first place cause I know my place (unlike ER)

Wanting to be the best is part of our nature, but it can lead to self destruction ofc

I understand why foids are cruel and only want attention.
