But nicotine gives less oxygen to blood, which means the body gets stress. Stress could be a big factor for acne and brake outs tho.
Nicotine is not the sole cause of acne, but it is a significant contributing factor that can trigger or worsen breakouts in susceptible individuals.

Mechanisms of Action: Nicotine affects skin health through several pathways:

  • Dehydration and Sebum: Nicotine and vape ingredients like propylene glycol dehydrate the skin, causing it to overproduce sebum (oil) to compensate, which clogs pores.
  • Vasoconstriction: Nicotine narrows blood vessels, reducing oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin, which impairs healing and increases inflammation.
  • Hormonal Impact: Nicotine can stimulate cortisol and androgen levels, further increasing oil production and inflammation.
Product-Specific Risks:

  • Vaping: Strongly linked to acne due to nicotine content, chemical irritants (like propylene glycol), and potential device hygiene issues transferring bacteria to the face.
  • Smoking: Associated with "atypical post-adolescent acne" and oxidative damage due to thousands of additional toxins beyond nicotine.
  • Nicotine Pouches (e.g., ZYN): Current evidence does not show a direct correlation between nicotine pouches and acne, as they lack smoke or vapor that dehydrates skin or introduces irritants, though individual hormonal responses may vary.
Conclusion: While genetics, hormones, and diet are primary drivers of acne, nicotine use exacerbates the condition by creating an inflammatory, dehydrated, and oil-prone environment. Quitting nicotine typically improves skin quality within 2–8 weeks as circulation and hydration normalize.

No? It causes vasoconstriction it doesn't effect oxygen levels.

I managed to get rid of acne while being an active smoker. Smoking cigarettes nukes your collagen regardless.
